Sahodaya School Song Recital

The beautiful crisp morning of 27th April, 2017 saw the charming and cheerful faces of more than 150 students of class V to VIII from around 15 different schools who came to our school to participate in the Sahodaya School Song Recital, an initiative by the CBSE Sahodaya Cluster which paid respect to the various school songs of the individual and distinct schools of the Dehradun district namely DAV, DSB, NGA, JMS, SBM, GRD Academy, Him Jyoti, Doon Heritage School, Olympus High, Doon International Public School, Doon Global School, Bhagirathi Vidyalaya, Horizon School and last but not the least our very own NDS.

The programme began at 10:00 am in the activity hall of the boarding house. Sant Jodh Singh Ji Maharaj graced us with his benign presence and marked the beginning of that auspicious day by lighting the lamp. All the guests were welcomed with a bouquet and with the soothing chants of Mool Mantra and Gayatri Mantra, the students were ready to start the recital with a new found energy within them. The recital began with the scintillating performance by our school NDS, whose song was written by our Hindi teacher Ms. Ranjit Kaur. After NDS various melodious and mesmerizing performances were given by other schools too. An array of soulful and energetic songs and rhythmical music left

the audience spellbound. The lyrics of the songs echoed the hopes and aspirations of their schools and their songs made it quite apparent that a school song enthuses in its children’s pride for being a part of an institution which makes them hold their head high. The students of each school were able to know the importance as well as the objectives behind the establishments of their schools. The last performance was again given by the host school NDS whose students presented a beautiful English song on school written by our English teacher Ms. Priya Chawla and whose music was composed by our student Rayan Banerjee of class IX. It was indeed an exhilarating experience.

After this, all the participating schools were given the school mementos and our school magazine DEEKSHA by our Principal, Mrs. Lalitha Krishnaswamy, as a token of love and respect from our side. With this we came to the end of the programme. All the guests applauded the immense efforts which made such a glorious event, successful. It was truly a pleasure to be the part of such an enchanting and successful event.
